Sampling Week 1 at Mattamiscontis Study Area

This past week, our field crew began the first of five sampling weeks in the Mattamiscontis study area. Multiple sampling weeks not only ensure that we get a wide variant of individuals and their diet's throughout the summer, but also helps us to gauge the population size based on mark-recapture analyses.

Our first week saw multiple sites with high activity levels, leaving behind as many as 27 hair samples at a single site. Other corrals captured videos of moose cows with their calf, multiple bears, and a curious squirrel checking out the bait site.
